Thank you for visiting Columbia Memorial Hospital's (CMH) website. While we're here, we wanted to take the chance to get you more acquainted with our staff, or your neighbors! CMH is one of the largest employers in the Lower Columbia Region, and the majority of our staff members live right here with you. Meet Douglas Abbott, MD.

Growing up, Dr. Abbott's love of sports and of science led him down a path to his training in Orthopedics. Dr. Abbott attended University of California Berkeley for undergraduate training, went to University of California at San Diego for medical school, and did orthopedic residency at University of Southern California. 

Once an Orthopedist, he further refined his skills with Fellowship training in Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine. He is an expert in Arthroscopy, and performs nearly all shoulder and knee reconstructive procedures through minimally invasive techniques, in the outpatient surgical setting. He has further Subspeciality Certification as a Sports Medicine Specialist as well.

Dr. Abbott practiced Orthopedics in Northern California for 8 years after completion of his training. He came to CMH in the Summer of 2011 to continue his passion for minimally invasive, 21st Century Orthopedic care.

He is a pilot and a tinkerer, and is fond of anything with a motor in it. He enjoys jogging and skiing, but mainly spends free time with his family and enjoys helping raise his 3 children.
