About us: Meet your neighbors

Thank you for visiting Columbia Memorial Hospital's (CMH) website. While we're here, we wanted to take the chance to get you more acquainted with our staff, or your neighbors! CMH is one of the largest employers in the Lower Columbia Region, and the majority of our staff members live right here with you. At Columbia Memorial Hospital, we hold our staff in the highest regard—we wouldn't be here without them. So please take this opportunity to meet one of our stars!

Meet Katrina McPherson, MD.

Dr. McPherson is a native Oregonian, raised on a farm in Klamath Falls. Besides helping out on the farm as a youngster, she was a competitive gymnast for 10 years. She also learned how to work on cars and restored a 1958 MG and a 1975 Camaro.

After living in a small town her whole life she went out and explored the rest of the world. She lived in Germany for a year with the study abroad program at Oregon State, then lived in Ecuador and worked at a rainforest reserve the following two summers. During medical school she was able to spend two months at a hospital in Cameroon and returned there 4 years later at the end of her training in pediatrics. She most recently lived in Miami for 8 years, where she worked in a pediatric ER and learned to speak Spanish quite well. After living in Corvallis, Germany, Ecuador, Baltimore, Cameroon and Miami, she returned to Oregon in 2009 to live in Astoria.

She is married with 2 kids.

A few of her interesting activities:
She worked for a Nobel Laureate while studying abroad in Germany.
She has read the Harry Potter books…in French. "Somehow the story still makes sense even when you only know half of the words."
The most peaceful place she's visited is the rainforest of Ecuador.
She took 2nd place in a bench press competition in medical school.
Her favorite food is chicken makhni (Indian food).
