Procedure

The steps to becoming a CMH volunteer:

Complete a volunteer application and then schedule a personal interview by calling 503-325-1164. Interviews are schedule Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. An interview lasts about 20 minutes.

During the interview we will talk about your interest, time availability and the volunteer needs in the hospital. We will work to find a good match for both of us.

If you are accepted as a volunteer, we will require you to attend a yearly training session and to provide us with references.

Training sessions last two hours During the training session, you will find out more about our organization and what you can expect as a volunteer. All volunteers are required to get a TB skin test, which is provided free.

Once you have completed all of the above steps, you will be able to begin volunteering. The average volunteer works four hours once a week and we ask for a minimum of a three-month commitment. You will have two training sessions with volunteers before you are assigned an area.
