Breast Health Services
CMH North Coast Breast Health
Breast cancer strikes one in eight women. One of the visions of CMH North Coast Breast Health Services is to find breast cancer at the earliest stage possible. This is the key to survival. When found early, the survival rate at five years is 96 percent.
The Columbia Memorial Hospital Breast Imaging Unit uses Computer Assisted Detection (CAD) technology. The CAD technology uses a computer to assist the radiologist in the analysis of your mammogram for suspicious areas. We use the MammoPad, which reduces the discomfort many women feel during mammography. We received a 100% on our Mammography Certification from the FDA and the Oregon Health Division.
We are in the process of acquiring a state-of-the-art Digital Mammography system that will dramatically improve the quality and quantity of images we can produce. Our Foundation is in the process of raising funds for a unit to arrive later this year. If you have an interest joining the FIGHT! against breast cancer and would like to donate please contact the Columbia Memorial Hospital Foundation.
CMH North Coast Breast Health Services is designed to help coordinate breast care. CMH North Coast Breast Health Services is led by Nancy Magathan, RN. Nancy helps to coordinate patient care and information between board-certified radiologists, surgeons, plastic surgeons, oncologists, pathologists and primary-care physicians in the community. Nancy pays great attention to the clinical care and emotional needs of the patients throughout diagnosis and treatment. We offer individual consulting services for women with breast cancer. A support group meets the second Tuesday of each month. 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. Columbia House Condos, Party Room.
Our staff has a passion for finding breast cancer, as well as helping newly-diagnosed women develop and undergo a treatment regimen specific to their clinical and emotional needs. Our mammography technologists are certified, and our team pays great attention to the clinical care and emotional needs of the patients throughout the entire course of treatment. CMH North Coast Breast Health Services was founded and developed with the help of grants from the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
