CMH welcomes new general surgeon

Robert Andres, MD, PhD, joins staff

CMH is pleased to welcome Robert Andres, MD, PhD, as a full-time general surgeon in the CMH-OHSU Health General Surgery Clinic. Dr. Andres began working as a temporary provider in the clinic in July and has decided to stay on permanently.

“Dr. Andres and his entire staff from reception to procedure to recovery to release treated me with the utmost of professional and considerate care,” commented a recent CMH patient. “I truly was very much at ease the entire time.”

Prior to joining CMH, Dr. Andres worked at Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. He has also held several teaching and director roles, including positions at Washington State University, University of Washington School of Medicine, Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Pacific Northwest University-Health Sciences.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago and completed a residency at West Virginia University. He also has a PhD in molecular and cellular biology.

Dr. Andres is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery. He was fellowship-trained in surgical endoscopy and abdominal wall reconstruction at the University of Miami/Jackson Health System.

During his career, Dr. Andres has had several articles published, spoken at numerous events and received a variety of awards.
