Visiting Guidelines

Welcome! At Columbia Memorial Hospital, the well-being of our patients and visitors is our priority. Here's what you need to know about visiting our facilities.

Entrances and COVID-19 screening

The Oregon Health Authority, Oregon Occupational Safety and Health, and U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration mandate that health care environments screen for COVID-19 and require masks for visitors and patients over the age of five years. The West Lobby is the main entry for patients and visitors. It's open Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. When you arrive, you'll be screened for COVID-19 and be given a sticker to show you've been checked.

If arriving outside of main lobby hours, all patients and visitors should come through the emergency room. That entrance is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. COVID-19 screening is always provided.

The CMH Health & Wellness Pavilion has COVID-19 screening at the door. This is available Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Visitor policies

At CMH, our focus is on the health and safety of our communities. That's why we are a tobacco-free campus at all times, and we have unique visitor guidelines in place right now:

  • Columbia Memorial Hospital: As of Monday, Nov. 8, 2021, one visitor over age 12 may accompany a patient to an outpatient or in-hospital appointment (lab, imaging, cardiac rehab, etc.). One visitor over age 12 is also permitted for most inpatients. No visitors are allowed for COVID+ patients or those with aerosol-generating procedures or assisted breathing devices. Visitors must also meet the screening criteria and check-in at the appropriate nurse station before going to a patient room. Exceptions include patients who are minors, laboring mothers in the Family Birthing Center (see specifics below) and family members visiting during end-of-life stages (limited for respiratory patients).
  • Outpatient clinics and urgent care: When possible, we encourage adult patients to come to their appointments alone. Those who would benefit from the help of a companion may bring one person age 12 or older. Patients who are minors can bring two parents or guardians to appointments.
  • Pediatric Clinic: Patients who are minors can bring two parents or guardians to appointments.
  • Family Birthing Center: One birth partner may be with the mother for the duration of her stay. A second birth partner may be present during labor/birth but must leave within two hours of delivery.
  • Infusion Center: For the safety of our patients, no visitors are currently allowed in the Infusion Center.

We encourage all visitors to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and/or obtain a negative COVID-19 test result prior to visiting. If seeing an inpatient, please go directly from the nurse station to the patient room and exit the hospital immediately after visiting.
