Allison Whisenhunt, MSW, LCSW, is the director of behavioral health and care management at CMH. She has been helping people as a clinical social worker for 20 years and is licensed to practice in Oregon.
The majority of her work has been in the medical field, including hospice, maternal and fetal medicine, and chronic conditions coping and navigation in children and adults in both the outpatient and acute care setting. She has supported people with behavioral health and coping concerns throughout her career with solution-focused therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, systems theory and a trauma-informed approach.
Allison's specialty is coping with grief, loss and adjustment to illness, and she has a strong interest in supporting people in helping professions who are experiencing compassion fatigue and burnout. Her focus at CMH is in the emergency room, where she is honored to work with a great team of other clinical social workers who offer outpatient services. She believes everyone can benefit from talking about the many challenges life brings, and that processing past trauma, reframing experiences and correcting negative thought patterns can positively change lives.
