Labor and Delivery

The CMH Family Birth Center's team and facilities have one focus — ensuring a safe and healthy labor and delivery experience for moms and babies. You can count on us to put you first and to work closely with you to provide the birth experience you want.

Labor aids and pain relief

Whether you opt for natural childbirth or decide to use pain medications during labor, our team is here to support you. Our staff is experienced in helping women find birth positions that work for them.

We offer a number of medication options, including epidurals and nitrous oxide. And we provide a wide variety of tools designed to make labor more comfortable and productive. These include:

  • Birthing balls.
  • Essential oils and aromatherapy.
  • Fetal monitoring that allows moms to take walks around the unit.
  • Labor tub.
  • Squat bar.

Postpartum support

The CMH Family Birth Center is set up to help you bond with your baby. Whenever possible, you'll be able to hold your baby immediately after birth. Studies show this skin-to-skin time improves the well-being of both mom and baby. We also encourage moms to keep their newborn in their rooms. This gives you and your care partner time to get to know your baby and learn how to care for them. A pediatrician will come by every day to check on your newborn.

Care after delivery also includes lactation consultations so that you get the breastfeeding support you need. We also provide resources like apps that provide information on breastfeeding, the postpartum experience and newborn care.
