CMH celebrates winners and nominees of annual Spirit of Care Awards

ASTORIA, Ore. — Each year, CMH celebrates the caregiver and provider winners of the Spirit of Care Awards. Winners are chosen annually from nominations, written by their peers, that are based on the care they consistently show at CMH.

All nominees and the winners are recognized as a feature of National Hospital Week, held the second week in May.

This year’s Spirit of Care Award winners are Grace Smith, senior business analyst, and Dr. Jennifer Brown, primary care physician.

Spirit of Care Award winners are honored with a permanent display on the wall near the hospital cafeteria. They are also given the opportunity to attend the Planetree International Conference on Person-Centered Care.

Grace Smith, Senior Business Analyst

Smith has worked at CMH since 2019. She is one of the hospital’s senior business analysts and supports the CMH pharmacies and CMH-OHSU Knight Cancer Collaborative.

In her nomination, a fellow caregiver wrote: “Grace is the type of person to drop everything that she is doing to help you solve your problem. There was one specific instance where I needed information to accomplish a task essential to my job and she went out of her way to get me the information I needed. It was a very last-minute and difficult request. She worked extra hours that day to get the information and saved the project.”

Dr. Jennifer Brown, Primary Care Physician

Dr. Brown joined the CMH-OHSU Health Primary Care Clinic – Warrenton in November 2021. She cares for patients of all ages.

Dr. Brown’s nomination reads: “Dr. Brown strives to provide excellent care for her patients. Her patients always comment that they feel like they have found a great provider who is caring and compassionate. She is easy to talk to and treats you as a partner in your care. She is a wealth of knowledge and empowers the caregivers she works with.”
