Meet Alex Pearson, a desktop support technician in the Information Technology (IT) department at CMH, who helps manage the computer network and technology infrastructure.

Pearson has been working with CMH for over two years and enjoys the sense of community that Astoria offers.

He is used to living in bigger cities like Portland and Orlando, so coming to a smaller, rural town was new. However, he has learned a lot about how community-focused the hospital is and has come to appreciate the sense of community involvement here.

Recently, Pearson and his family bought a house in Astoria and are planning to stay for a long time.

Pearson values building relationships with different departments and everyone around the hospital. He appreciates the warm greetings from people he meets in the hallway, whether it's work-related or not. Building a strong relationship with the community is important to him.

Pearson has also broadened his knowledge and awareness of technology while working at CMH. He has used the programming skills he learned while working on the BuildCMH Expansion Project to find ways to help save money for the hospital. Pearson has enjoyed the process, making some great memories here, especially while attending holiday events, such as the Easter Egg Hunt and Light the Labyrinth. Pearson loves that the hospital provides different family events that he can bring his daughter and wife to.

He looks forward to seeing the expanded hospital come to fruition and see it be successful. He is excited to see how technology is integrated into the new space and how the infrastructure will be updated.

“This hospital building has served the community for so many years,” Pearson says. “It will be good to see how technology will help with providing more care to the community and our caregivers.”
