ONA union members ratified one-year extension this month

CMH is pleased to announce that Oregon Nurses Association (ONA) union members have ratified a one-year extension to their current bargaining contract.

The CMH Board of Trustees approved the agreement at their meeting last night. Effective July 10, all ONA nurses will receive a pay adjustment of 10%.

“We’re glad to have reached a timely agreement with our ONA members after a few bargaining sessions this spring,” says Nicole Williams, CMH chief operations officer. “It is critical that CMH retains and recruits a long-term nursing workforce to reinforce our commitment of care to the community. The success of our negotiations demonstrates the collaborative working relationship that we aim to maintain in the future.”

Throughout the negotiation process, it was important for CMH to recognize the instability of the economy, while appreciating the value of skilled nurses. The hospital also sought to minimize the use of costly traveler and agency nurses who have supported Oregon health care organizations throughout the pandemic.

CMH and ONA will begin negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement in February 2023, with the goal of reaching a tentative agreement and ratification before May 31, 2023.
