Remodel accommodates growing demand for services in Podiatry, Orthopedics and Urology
ASTORIA, Ore. — The CMH-OHSU Health Medical Group is excited to announce the completion of a major remodel of its Specialty Clinic on the third floor of the Pavilion. This remodel was designed to accommodate growing demand for services in Podiatry, Orthopedics and Urology. The expansion allows for the addition of new providers and enhances the clinic’s ability to offer more timely access to care for patients.
Key features of the remodel:
- Expanded space for growth: The remodel creates additional space for the Foot & Ankle Clinic, Orthopedic Clinic and Urology Clinic, allowing these departments to accommodate an increased number of providers and patients.
- Updated and enhanced facilities: A second X-ray machine has been added, as well as expanded sterile processing space, enabling more in-office procedures to be performed in Urology.
- Improved workspaces: The updated design includes more storage, expanded staff offices and additional workstations for medical assistants, nurses and providers, improving workflow efficiency and staff collaboration.
- Modernized aesthetics: The clinic’s appearance has been refreshed with updated colors and finishes, providing a more welcoming and comfortable environment for both patients and staff. The space has not seen a major renovation since it was originally built in 2009-2010.
- Convenient check-in process: Patients can still check in for all Orthopedic, Urology and Podiatry appointments at a single, central location at the main desk on the third floor.
In 2023, the Specialty Clinic saw 6,276 patients, and there were 18,621 visits. By expanding the space and capabilities, we can better meet the needs of our growing patient base, with faster access to services and procedures.
The project was completed with the help of Alia Randall, Orthopedic/Urology Clinic manager, Misty Ingram, Medical Group director, Liz Rathfon, project manager, and Jarrod Karnofski, vice president of ancillary and support services, in addition to key local contractors and subcontractors. There were many other staff members involved from Purchasing, Administration, EVS, Facilities, IT, Housekeeping, and Infection Prevention.
