Al Pakalniskis, MD, joins staff

CMH is pleased to welcome Al Pakalniskis, MD, to CMH Imaging Services. Dr. Pakalniskis begins providing services today.

Dr. Pakalniskis is a board-certified radiologist. He is joining CMH after working 35 years at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Elmhurst, Illinois. Like CMH, Elmhurst is a Planetree-certified hospital.

“I am excited about moving to the beautiful Oregon Coast,” he says. “I’m looking forward to working in a smaller community hospital and practicing general radiology.”

Dr. Pakalniskis earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois. He completed a residency at Rush Medical Center and an internship at Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

Dr. Pakalniskis served as chairman of Elmhurst Hospital’s radiology department between 2000 and 2010. He is board-certified by the American Board of Radiology and is a member of the American College of Radiology and Radiological Society of North America.

Outside of work, Dr. Pakalniskis enjoys reading, cycling, hiking, golfing and traveling. He is fluent in Lithuanian.

About CMH Imaging
CMH decided to transition radiology services in-house through a partnership with Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in 2020. Dr. Pakalniskis joins Drs. Kenneth Kolbeck and Robert Leatherman, who also work full-time at CMH.

Having skilled radiologists here in Astoria allows for more timely access to procedures. In all situations, patients receive just one bill, rather than the two they received in the past, offering more satisfaction and less frustration. There is a stronger affiliation between CMH and OHSU’s imaging departments, in addition to better integration with the radiologists and CMH’s processional staff.
