The DAISY Award is given quarterly to extraordinary nurses at CMH

CMH proudly announces Elli VanBrabant, Med/Surg nurse, as its most recent recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.

VanBrabant was nominated for the DAISY Award by the family member of a patient.

The nomination read:

“Working in health care for the last 16 years, you set pretty high standards for the care your loved ones receive. Elli went above and beyond our expectations. She showed true patient-centered care.

“She was very patient with my grandmother, explaining everything so she could understand what happened or was going to happen to her. My grandmother developed swallowing difficulties; [Elli] did a swallow evaluation on the spot. She took her time, and we never felt like she was in a rush. The biggest thing is, we felt like she truly CARED!! I think Elli is a perfect example [of an extraordinary nurse].”

The DAISY Foundation, established in 1999 in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, recognizes extraordinary nurses who exemplify exceptional care to patients and their families.

VanBrabant will be featured on the DAISY Foundation website and will have the opportunity to apply for scholarships as part of her recognition.

CMH will continue recognizing DAISY honorees throughout the year. If you have a story about a CMH nurse who made a difference, submit a nomination at www.columbiamemorial.org/forms/staff-recognition-daisy-award/.
