Thank you, Patti
It is with a mix of admiration and heartfelt gratitude that we announce the retirement of Patti Boullie, a certified nurse midwife who has been an integral part of CMH for over 28 years. Patti’s journey with CMH began in October 1996 when she was hired to manage the newly opened OB Clinic. Since then, she has become a beloved figure in our community, known for her exceptional care and the warmth she brought to every patient and their family.
Patti earned her master’s degree in nurse midwifery from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. She relocated to Astoria from Fort Knox, Kentucky, following an illustrious 15-year career in the U.S. Army, where she served as a nurse midwife, nurse, company commander and movements officer. Her dedication to service was recognized with several medals, honoring her outstanding contributions to the Army Nurse Corps. When she arrived at CMH, Patti set a goal to provide holistic, compassionate care to women throughout their lives, integrating traditional midwifery with modern medicine to offer the best of both worlds.
As one of Patti’s physician colleagues for 19 years, I can personally attest to the impact she has had on both her patients and those of us fortunate enough to work alongside her. The collaboration we shared was not only professionally enriching but also filled with moments of joy and laughter. Patti’s sense of humor and deep compassion allowed her to connect with our patients on a personal level, and as a veteran herself, she was particularly committed to supporting fellow veterans in their healing journeys.
One of my fondest memories with Patti was when we delivered a baby who was born with a cleft lip and palate. The family was unaware of the condition prior to birth, and Patti and I shared a celebratory dance after welcoming that special baby into the world. This moment, like so many others, showcased Patti’s unwavering commitment to her patients and her ability to bring light to any situation. During a time when Patti and I were the only obstetric providers at CMH, our collaboration became affectionately known as the “Patti and Bob Show,” a testament to the strong bond we formed in service to our community.
As Patti embarks on this new chapter, we reflect on the countless lives she has touched through her work. Her passion for caring for women and families, whether in moments of joy or challenge, has left an indelible mark on all of us. Patti once said, “I am blessed to take part in their life,” and indeed, we have been equally blessed to have her as part of ours.
Thank you, Patti, for your dedication to CMH, the CMH-OHSU Health Women’s Center clinic, and our entire North Coast community.
Congratulations on your well-deserved retirement!
