Featuring Astoria High School’s Jordan Poyer and his “My Cause My Cleats” fundraiser for CMH
After naming the hospital his cause for the NFL's "My Cause My Cleats" fundraiser, Buffalo Bills safety and Astoria High School alumnus Jordan Poyer will support CMH with custom cleats worn during tonight's matchup against the New England Patriots.
Catch the game on Amazon Prime, with the broadcast beginning at 4 p.m. and the kickoff at 5:15 p.m.
My Cause My Cleats is a program that allows NFL players to fundraise for organizations they choose. The players wear custom cleats that are auctioned off, with all proceeds going toward their chosen organization.
Poyer has been open about his struggles with alcoholism and chose CMH as his cause to support access to health care in his hometown.
“It’s been great to see Jordan’s football career develop from his time at Astoria High School to the NFL. We’re so proud of him and his success on the field," says Mark Kujala, director of the CMH Foundation. "But more importantly, Jordan recognizes how essential access to quality health care is in rural communities. At CMH, we’re very fortunate to have Jordan as a long-term partner in growing our services in Clatsop County. The proceeds from the ‘My Cause My Cleats’ campaign will go toward the hospital’s future expansion.”
Poyer has played for the Bills since 2017. After graduating from Astoria High School, he played for Oregon State University, where he was named a consensus All-American. He was drafted into the NFL by the Philadelphia Eagles and also spent time playing for the Cleveland Browns.
Using the hashtag #mycausemycleats on social media, fans can see participating players' cleats and read more about their chosen organizations. Bidding lasts for four weeks and starts Dec. 9, with all funds raised from Poyer's cleats going toward future growth at CMH. View the auctions online at nflauction.nfl.com.
