Person-centered surgery
Like all CMH providers, our surgeons and nurses take the time to get to know you before your procedure. We work to understand your concerns and focus on your well-being.
Your health care provider will discuss the procedure with you and take the time to answer your questions. They'll also give you pre-op instructions. After you schedule surgery, our pre-admission testing nurse will work with you to complete any needed tests, such as lab work or x-rays.
After surgery, the surgical nurses will provide recovery instructions. Our fact sheet about preventing surgical site infections will come in handy too. You'll work with your health care provider to manage prescriptions, get test results and more.
Care to manage wounds
We provide person-centered care for many kinds of chronic wounds. Typically, a chronic wound is defined as a wound that has not shown significant healing after 30 days.
Our general surgeons and certified wound care nurse work together to develop a care plan for each patient which may include ordering relevant tests and imaging, ordering wound dressing supplies, or performing in-clinic debridement and/or advanced procedures. Some of the most common wounds we treat are:
- Diabetic ulcers
- Venous ulcers
- Arterial ulcers
- Pressure injuries
- Surgical wound dehiscence
- Burns
We also provide care for patients with ileostomies, colostomies and urostomies. Our services include ostomy care, rehabilitation and support for patients and their families in an outpatient setting. The certified ostomy care nurse works with patients of all ages and coordinates care with the patient's surgeon and primary care provider to offer:
- Pre- and post-operative education
